Every lock now in the market senses the door closure and then operates its motor to turn into locking position. This algorithm, in nature, makes a gap of 1 to 5 seconds of motor operation time between door closure and locking.

1 second is a short time, but it can also be the difference between life and death. For example, if a stranger follows you to your home, you run into your home, slam the door and think you are safe, while in truth you are not.

Innovating with Fully Automated Mortise

The mortise applied to the currently commercialized smart door lock is ‘Common Mortise’ that only operates the dead bolt. In order to operate the latch bolt, which is the part that holds the door before the dead bolt lock the door, physical force must be applied vertically or horizontally to the door lock handle part. Therefore, A handle should be operated manually in the case of mortise lock.

In November 2021, RAONARK developed 'Fully Automated Mortise (patent application) with instant locking function' for the first time in Korea. Keyin's smart lock with fully automated mortise eliminates the need to turn or pull the handle anymore. Therefore, Raonark’s Smart Lock has no handle that requires mechanical movement. By applying the unibody method without a parting part, the durability of the product has been further strengthened, and handleless design innovation has been achieved.
